Climbing in Statte

After leaving Sicily, our next climbing stop was Statte in Puglia. Statte is right in the arch of the boot of Italy, about 500km south east of Rome and 15 km north of the city of Taranto. The crags at Statte are spread across 16 sectors along the side of a 100m (or more) deep, … Continue reading Climbing in Statte →

Do not let me choose routes!

We have had a fantastic 10 days climbing in Statte (in the heel of Italy), but one thing that has been proven to me during this trip, is that I am absolutely hopeless at spotting a good route! Generally, I just go with the flow. I enjoy climbing for the places it takes me, the … Continue reading Do not let me choose routes! →

Exploring Caves in Matera

After four days of climbing in Statte we needed a rest, or to be more specific, the skin on our fingers needed a rest. So we headed out to explore two unique towns in the Puglia region: Matera and Alberobello (more on Alberobello later). Matera is a town characterised by its cave dwellings. Caves which … Continue reading Exploring Caves in Matera →

Today was the last of 4 days climbing in Provence. We visited 6 limestone crags and each one had a very different style of climbing. We could easily spend a week just at one crag. I am sure we will be back!
Had a quick visit to Notre Dames des Anges, le Grandes Mur Rouge today, and was very impressed with routes. Jon did one 40m 6b which was fantastic, but all the other lines look equally good. We will have to have a full day here before the end of our trip.
I think I need to work on my lock-offs! Autumn training is about to commence!
Everyone in the house is avidly watching the #europeanchampionships #munich2022 #sportclimbing competition! I am so pleased @ifsclimbing had the livestream on their website.
Jon approaching the crux on ‘Regarde les baleines passer’ (7b). This was his second 7b redpoint this summer, a new personal best!
Woohoo! We have just had a great day climbing at Remingy. After one session working the route, Jon successfully redpointed his first 7b in France. On top of that, for the first time ever, I led every route I climbed today. Not bad for someone who prefers a top rope! It is great to feel like we are making progress with our climbing again 😊.
